Search for a WhatsApp API provider in India and you get fifty names. Some are registered with Meta. Some resell someone else's platform. Some are bulk tools that will get your number banned. This is the short checklist we give every business that calls us, including the ones who end up choosing someone else.

First, what does a provider actually do?

Meta gives businesses the WhatsApp Business API. It does not give them a screen to use it. A provider builds the screen. That means four things: creating your WhatsApp Business Account and connecting your number, giving you an inbox and campaigns in a browser, getting your message templates approved, and answering the phone when something breaks.

The API is the same for everyone. You are choosing the screen, the setup and the support.

1. Is there a setup fee?

Some providers charge a large amount just to create the account. Ask the number. Then ask what happens to it if the platform does not fit you after a month. A provider that charges nothing for setup has a reason to keep you happy every month instead.

2. Is there a contract?

A yearly lock-in means you cannot leave when the inbox turns out to be wrong for your team. Monthly billing means the provider has to earn the next month. Prefer monthly.

3. Whose WhatsApp Business Account is it?

This is the one people skip. The account should be created in your Facebook Business Manager, not the provider's. If it is in yours, you can move to another provider later and the number goes with you. If it is in theirs, you are stuck. Ask this before anything else.

4. Are there charges beyond the plan?

Ask for a plain answer, in writing or on WhatsApp. A good provider walks you through any usage-based charges before you start, so nothing surprises you on an invoice. A provider who says "it depends" and changes the subject is a provider who will surprise you.

5. Who answers when a template is rejected?

Templates get rejected. Numbers get flagged. Reports look wrong. When that happens at 6 pm before a campaign, do you get a ticket number or a person? Ask for the support phone number and call it once before you pay.

6. Do they promise unlimited messages or a guaranteed green tick?

If yes, walk away. Meta sets messaging tiers and a quality rating for every business number, on every provider. Nobody can send unlimited messages. And the green tick is Meta's decision — a provider can help you apply, and that is all. A promise of either one tells you the provider is either not on the official API or not being honest.

7. Can your own software send through it?

Even if you do not need it today. API access and webhooks are what let your website send order updates, your clinic software send appointment reminders, or your billing tool send receipts. A provider that has them gives you room to grow. One that does not will make you move later.

How we answer the seven

Instacode.in is a Meta-registered BSP based in Indore. No setup fee. Monthly plans at ₹790, ₹990 and ₹1,290, with no contract. The account is in your Business Manager from day one. Usage-based charges are explained on WhatsApp before you start. Support is a phone number that reaches a person. We do not promise unlimited messages or a green tick. API access and webhooks are on the Pro plan.

We are also clear about what the platform does not include: no AI chatbot (the bot follows rules you set), no SMS, no built-in CRM, no free trial. If you want the full picture, read our WhatsApp API provider page and the pricing page.

One last tip

Ask all seven questions on one call. A provider who answers them all plainly in ten minutes is a provider you can work with. That test works on us too — message us and try it.
