Many customers buy the same medicines every month — for blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid or a long course of treatment. When they run out, they may skip doses or buy wherever is nearest. A simple WhatsApp refill reminder from your pharmacy helps them stay on track and brings them back to you.
1. Ask first
At the counter, ask regular customers: "Would you like a WhatsApp reminder when your medicines are due?" Save the number only if they say yes, and note roughly when their pack will finish.
2. The refill reminder
"Namaste Sharma ji, your monthly medicines from City Pharmacy may be running low. Reply YES and we'll keep them ready, or send a photo of your prescription for home delivery."
Keep it general. Don't name the medicine or the condition in the message — the phone may be shared with family.
3. Order confirmation
"Thank you! Your order is ready for pickup after 5 pm today. Total: ₹1,240."
4. Home delivery update
"Your medicines are on the way. Our delivery person, Ravi, will reach you in about 30 minutes."
5. Out-of-stock note
"Sorry, one item on your list is out of stock today. We'll have it tomorrow by noon. Should we deliver the rest now?"
Rules to follow
- Sell prescription medicines only against a valid prescription.
- Don't give medical advice on WhatsApp. For dose changes or side effects, ask the customer to speak to their doctor.
- Protect privacy. Keep messages general and don't share customers' health details with anyone.
- Message only customers who agreed, and stop when they ask.
Timing that works
Send the reminder about five days before the pack is likely to finish. That gives time to arrange delivery or pickup without the customer running out.
Doing it for many customers
A busy pharmacy may have hundreds of regular customers. With the WhatsApp Business API, the counter and delivery staff share one business number and inbox, and reminders go out as approved templates. On our Growth and Pro plans, contacts can be kept in lists — for example, by the week their refill is due. See WhatsApp for medical stores or our plans from ₹790 a month.
