A buyer types "cotton kurta set for women xl" into Google. Your product is exactly that. It does not show up, because your page is titled "Product 214 — New Arrival". This is the cheapest SEO fix a small store has.

The formula

What it is + the detail buyers search + brand or material + size or pack

Write titles the way a customer speaks, not the way your supplier's invoice reads.

Examples that work

  • Clothing: "Cotton Kurta Set for Women — Block Print, XL"
  • Grocery: "Toor Dal 1 kg — Unpolished"
  • Electronics: "Bluetooth Neckband — 30 Hour Battery, Model X200"
  • Jewellery: "Lightweight Gold Chain — 22K, 4.2 g"
  • Sweets: "Kaju Katli 500 g — Fresh, No Preservatives"

Each one answers the question a buyer types, in the order they type it.

Five mistakes that cost traffic

  1. Internal codes as titles. "SKU 4412" means nothing to a search engine or a customer.
  2. Words nobody searches. "Premium Exclusive Superior Quality" adds length, not visitors.
  3. Missing the size or pack. Buyers compare 500 g against 1 kg. If the title hides it, they leave.
  4. One listing for many variants. If people search each variety by name, give it its own page.
  5. Copying the manufacturer's description. Hundreds of stores have the same text, so none of them stand out.

Local words matter

If customers use a local name for a product, put both names in. A buyer may search "bhujia" or "namkeen", "kurti" or "kurta", the old name of your city or the new one. Site search does not know synonyms — the words have to be written on the page.

Then fix the three things around the title

  • Meta title: the product name plus your city or brand, under about 60 characters.
  • Description: two honest sentences, then the details as fields — size, weight, material, care.
  • Image name: "cotton-kurta-block-print.jpg" beats "IMG_3421.jpg".

How long it takes

Do your 50 fastest-moving products first. That is an afternoon of work and covers most of your traffic. The long tail can wait for the following week.

On our stores, product URLs, meta titles and image details are editable from the admin panel, so this work does not need a developer. See ecommerce website plans or ecommerce website development in India.

FAQs

What is a good product title format for an online store?

What it is, then the detail buyers search, then brand or material, then size or pack — for example "Toor Dal 1 kg — Unpolished". Write it the way a customer would say it.

Should every variant have its own product page?

If people search the variety by name, yes. Separate pages rank for separate searches, which is why one listing with a long dropdown often loses traffic.

How many products should I fix first?
