Why WhatsApp, and not email or SMS
Your customer has an email inbox they never open and an SMS folder full of bank alerts. WhatsApp is the app they look at forty times a day.

That is the whole reason. A message that is read is a message that can sell. On WhatsApp the offer, the photo and the button to buy are all in one place, and the customer can reply.
The catch is that WhatsApp guards this. You can only market to people who agreed, with messages Meta approved. Marketing software on the official API is built around that rule, not around getting past it.
The four parts: list, template, campaign, report
List. Your contacts, imported from a CSV or Excel file with the fields you need — name, city, what they bought. On Growth and Pro, named lists: regulars, enquiries, dealers.
Template. The message, written once, with blanks for the name or the offer. Meta approves it before it can be sent. Add a header image or video from the platform.
Campaign. Pick a list, pick a template, send. Thousands of messages go out from your verified business number.
Report. Sent, delivered, read. Per campaign. This is the part the free app never gives you, and it is the part that makes the next campaign better.
Replies land in the team inbox, where whoever is on duty answers from the same number.
Building a list of people who said yes
The list is the asset. A big list of strangers gets you blocked. A smaller list of people who asked gets you sales.

Where opt-ins come from: a tick box on your website checkout. A QR code on the counter or the bill. A click-to-WhatsApp ad on Facebook or Instagram. A customer who messaged you first. A reply to a campaign.
Keep a note of how each contact opted in. Put an opt-out line in every marketing template. People who can leave easily rarely block.
Sending without hurting your number
Meta gives every business number a quality rating. Blocks and reports lower it. A low rating limits how many new people you can reach. Marketing software is only useful if it protects that rating.
Three controls do it. Lists, so the sale message does not go to the customer who paid full price last week. Marketing cooldown on Pro, which leaves a contact alone for a set number of days after any marketing message. Skip-open-window, which keeps a paid template from going to someone you can message free right now.
A business that uses these sends more in a year than a business that blasts. It also still has its number in December.
What the software does not do
It does not schedule a campaign for a future date and time. You send when you are ready. It does not include an AI that writes messages or answers customers; the bot follows rules you set. It does not send SMS or email. It does not include a built-in CRM with deal stages; it has contact lists. It does not have a one-click Shopify connector; your store connects through the API and webhooks.
It does not send unlimited messages, and it will not message people who did not opt in. Any tool that promises either is not on the official API. See how bulk sending works within Meta's rules.
Who uses it, and for what

- Restaurants — today's special to regulars at 6 pm. See WhatsApp API for restaurants.
- Coaching classes — new batch announcement to last year's enquiries.

What they share: a list of people who know them, and a message worth reading.
