A new sport arrived, and Meerut is making the gear

Industry reports say India went from about 200 pickleball courts in early 2024 to more than 1,200, and more than a hundred paddle brands appeared in a single year. Booking apps show games and players growing fast in dozens of cities.

Meerut already makes cricket bats, balls, nets and fitness gear. Several units here now make pickleball paddles, balls and poles too. Most of it is sold to other brands or through marketplaces.

New players search for "pickleball paddle for beginners" and "pickleball set for 2 players". A maker with its own website, clear specifications and fair prices can win those buyers directly.

What the store does not do — no build-your-own kit

A new player wants a set: two paddles, a few balls, maybe a net. Sellers ask whether buyers can choose their own combination on one screen. They cannot.

There is no kit builder. A buyer cannot pick paddles, balls and a net from options and get one combined product with one price.

So build the common kits yourself as products: "Beginner set — 2 paddles, 4 balls", "Family set — 4 paddles, 6 balls, portable net". List every item and the total weight. Sell single paddles and ball packs separately for buyers who know what they want.

The "frequently bought together" feature on Pro and Elite then suggests balls to someone buying a paddle, which covers most of what a kit builder would do.

Specifications sell a paddle

Pickleball buyers compare quickly: weight, surface material, core, thickness, grip size, and whether the paddle is approved for tournaments. Put those as fields on every paddle.

Say who each paddle is for — beginner, intermediate, advanced — in one plain line. Most buyers today are beginners and want to know what not to overpay for.

Photograph the paddle face, edge guard and grip up close. A short video on Pro and Elite showing a few shots does more than any description.

Clubs, academies and corporate courts

New courts need equipment in bulk: paddles for rentals, ball boxes, nets and poles. Corporate offices setting up courts buy the same.

Make bulk packs as products, and use coupons with quantity thresholds for clubs. A GST invoice with every order is essential for these buyers.

Keep a list of clubs and academies. When a new paddle model or ball batch is ready, one message to that list brings repeat orders.

Cricket and the rest of the Meerut catalogue

Pickleball is the new category, but cricket gear still sells all year. Keep separate categories — cricket, pickleball, badminton, fitness — so each buyer lands in the right place.

For bats, write the willow grade, weight, handle type and whether it is knocked in. For balls, the type and match or practice use. Clear fields reduce wrong orders and returns.

Money, delivery and returns

UPI and Razorpay cover most buyers. Keep cash on delivery for smaller items, and use partial COD on Pro and Elite for bulk orders and premium paddles so a refusal does not cost you twice.

Set packed dimensions for nets and poles so courier charges are right. Write a clear returns rule: unused items in original packing within a set number of days.

Search results for pickleball gear are still thin in India. Pages titled the way buyers search — "pickleball paddle for beginners", "pickleball balls outdoor", "pickleball net portable" — can rank faster than in older sports.

Clean URLs, editable meta titles and a sitemap that updates when you publish come with the first plan, and Google Analytics shows which products new players look at most.
