Delivery charges that follow the order value
A flat delivery fee is wrong in both directions. Too high and small orders never get placed. Too low and you fund them out of your own margin.
Shipping charges are configured by threshold. Below a value you set, the buyer pays delivery. Above it, delivery is free — and the threshold does the work of pushing basket size up, because a customer at ₹420 will add a packet of something to cross ₹500 rather than pay sixty rupees.
That single mechanic is the most effective margin tool in grocery, and it costs nothing to run.
Free shipping per product, not per store
Not every product carries the same margin. A five-kilo atta bag and a packet of spices are entirely different economics, and treating them the same is how the numbers go wrong.
Free shipping is a per-product toggle. High-margin lines can carry it as a promotion; heavy or low-margin lines do not have to. You can push exactly what you want to push without opening a hole in the rest of the catalogue.
Coupon and discount management handles the rest — first-order codes, category discounts, festive offers — from the admin panel, with no developer needed.
A catalogue with thousands of lines
Grocery is a wide catalogue business. Hundreds of SKUs across dozens of categories, many in multiple pack sizes, some of them perishable.
Product management and inventory management handle unlimited products and categories with variant-level stock, so a one-kilo pack can sell out while the five-kilo keeps selling. Out-of-stock items come off sale automatically instead of taking an order you cannot pack.
For a repeat-purchase business, customer management matters more than in most categories. Order history against each customer means you can see who buys monthly, what they buy, and who has quietly stopped.
Repeat orders are the whole business
Nobody buys groceries once. The customer who ordered in January should be ordering in February, and if they are not, something is wrong that you need to see.
WhatsApp ordering and alerts fit this category unusually well — order confirmations and delivery updates land where your customer already is, without asking them to install anything or check an email.
Abandoned cart recovery on the Pro plan catches the half-filled basket, which in grocery is often just someone who got interrupted rather than someone who changed their mind. And OTP login means a returning customer is two taps from checkout instead of resetting a password they never set.
Where you deliver, and when
Grocery is a local business pretending to be an internet business. You deliver to a handful of pin codes, not to the country, and the store has to respect that.
Delivery areas are yours to define. An order from outside your radius should never be accepted in the first place, because cancelling it later costs you a customer and a review. Shipping rules are configured per area alongside the order-value threshold, so a nearby colony and an outer suburb can carry different charges.
For timing, WhatsApp alerts do most of the work. A confirmation when the order is placed and an update when it is out for delivery removes almost every "where is my order" call, which in grocery is the single biggest drain on a small team's day.
Coupon management handles the rest of the local playbook — a code for a new colony you are trying to break into, a weekend offer, a first-order discount. All from the admin panel, changed as often as you like.
