The commission arithmetic
Take a kitchen doing thirty orders a day at an average of ₹450. That is roughly ₹4.05 lakh a month in order value. At 25% aggregator commission, about ₹1 lakh a month leaves before you have paid for a single ingredient.
Your own store costs a one-time setup fee, hosting of roughly ₹500–800 a month, and Razorpay's standard transaction percentage. There is no per-order cut to us.
Now the honest part, because this is where most of these projects go wrong: your own store does not bring you customers. The aggregator does, and that is genuinely what you are paying for. What your own store does is let you keep the customers you already have.
The businesses this works for have an existing audience — repeat customers, a WhatsApp list, an Instagram following, or physical footfall. They move those people to their own store and keep using the aggregator for discovery. That combination works. Switching off the aggregator on day one does not.
What a food store actually needs
Food ordering has requirements that a general ecommerce store does not, and it is worth being clear about which ones the platform handles and which it does not.
What works well:
- WhatsApp order alerts to the owner — on Elite, via Meta WABA. For a kitchen, an order that pings the phone immediately matters more than a dashboard.
- Store-level COD control — cash on delivery is still normal for food, and you decide when it is offered.
- Stock management with out-of-stock handling — so a sold-out dish stops being orderable instead of generating an apologetic phone call.
- Coupon and discount engine — for the offers that actually drive repeat orders.
- Announcement bar — for today's specials or a kitchen-closed notice, changed by you in seconds.
What we do not have: live delivery-partner tracking, table reservations, or a KOT printer integration. If your operation depends on those, this is not the right platform and we would rather say so now than after you have paid.
Beyond food — Pune retail
Laxmi Road and Tulsi Baug
Sarees, imitation jewellery, household goods. Dense traditional retail with a customer base that has largely moved online for everything except this.
Camp and Koregaon Park
Boutiques, speciality food, pet products, home decor. Higher-income buyers, strong prepaid share, and a category mix where good photography carries the store.
Organic and speciality grocery
A genuinely strong Pune category with high repeat purchase. Customer accounts with order history and abandoned-cart reminders matter far more here than acquisition tricks.
Auto components
Pune's manufacturing belt supports a large parts trade — spec-driven, B2B, and best served by a catalogue with detailed attributes and an enquiry route.
Getting repeat orders without paying for them twice
For any Pune business with a repeat-purchase product — food, grocery, pet supplies, personal care — the store earns its money on the second order, not the first.
Three things support that. Customer accounts with order history mean a repeat purchase takes seconds instead of rebuilding the whole cart. OTP login over WhatsApp or phone removes the password friction that kills repeat sign-ins on mobile. Abandoned cart recovery on Pro captures carts and sends reminders, and on Elite those reminders can go over WhatsApp, which people actually read.
Returning-customer analytics on Elite tell you whether any of it is working, which is more useful than it sounds — most sellers guess.
Cost and how we work
Plans are a one-time setup fee with no monthly platform charge and no commission per order. Starter is a complete working store. Pro adds courier automation, Partial COD, abandoned-cart recovery, reviews and Meta Pixel. Elite adds WhatsApp order automation, Meta CAPI and advanced analytics.
For a restaurant or cloud kitchen, Elite is usually the one that fits, because the WhatsApp order alerts are the feature that changes daily operations. For a boutique or a first online store, Starter is the honest recommendation.
Hosting (~₹500–800/month) and a domain (~₹800/year) are paid directly to those providers. No markup from us.
Our studio is in Indore, so Pune clients work with us remotely over WhatsApp and calls, with a staging link to review as the store fills up. Three to five working days once your catalogue and photos are ready.
